Make-up Back Roads Century..

I know this was done last year by a few members and maybe we should do it again before this season is over. For all of the members who could'nt get registered in time or chose not to pay for the ride,we should have our own century. We can meet at Clarke Co. High School and do the route and just be self supported. Or we can recruit a couple of volunteers to run a couple SAG vehicles for us. I would be up for it. Could be a fun day out for the club.

I can ride SAG, but i have
I can ride SAG, but i have to run soccer tryout 9 to 12 Nov 13 and 14th. Any other time I am free
Was this going to be the
Was this going to be the whole century route or the metric route?
I'm still up for it. Soccer
I'm still up for it. Soccer season will end this weekend so that will open up some time for me. Need to check the calender for other things happening. Either the full century or the metric would be good.

Are there any hills in WV?
Who is in for a unoffical PPCC (backroads) century?
I'd really like to do this "make up" (not crashing) ride if we can get enough people to volunteer some time for us. Maybe Sunday Oct. 17th or the 24th. Anyone interested throw out your dates and let's try to get one one on the calendar!
Can someone who is rising this weekend grab a cue sheet? I'll start looking for rest/food stops along the route and we'll figure out the best place to start/stop. We can make my house a rest stop for sure.

I would be interested also
I would be interested also but October is super busy for me. Early Nov would probably work but I think you have to go with what works for the majority of folks. Charlie

Love to, but November?
I would really like to do it, but won't be around until possibly Oct. 30th. Any interest in Nov. 6th/7th? Or we could have two groups also- don't want to kill momentum if others can make it earlier in Oct.
Our house is also en route and could be a rest stop. Looks as if there will be one across the street at the elementary school on Sunday. Maybe we'll cheer from the driveway! Have fun all who are riding- looks to be another nice weekend!

Novemeber is good too.
I'm up for it. I'll need to
I'm up for it. I'll need to see what the schedule is like. I can see if Susan would want to run a SAG vehicle for us also, she is good at that.

I may be up for it too.
I may be up for it too. Here is a different route that goes by Summit Point store, sheperdtown main area, and bakertown store (closed sundays). http://ridewithgps.com/routes/180226
Depends on how the Washington High School Soccer team does, the first weekend in Novemeber could be the state championships
FYI
Back Roads Century Site. "100 additional Back Roads Century registrations will go on sale Wednesday September 8th at 9:00am"
Will close whenever 100 registrations are reached. New rate goes up to $65.

Just leave the PPCC Jerseys
Just leave the PPCC Jerseys at home if you are riding without paying.

I just got my registration
I just got my registration in the mail. This year they assigned helmet and bike numbers. It will be pretty obvious that anyone not registered is riding. Just thought I would pass that along. They can't kick anyone off the road of course.

I think...
As long as you don't stop at the rest stops and attempt to get anything there you're fine. At least on the northern loop there are a few convenience stores you can stop at instead.
I love riding this area...
It's beautiful countryside to ride in down around Berryville. We never registered for the official ride either, so I'd be up for doing it Jeff. Guess all we need to do is pick a date, right? Or is the idea to do it "guerilla style" on the same date as the "real" century? That's ok too! :-)
No law that says we can't ride those roads at the same time! :-)

Jeff,
Count me in as I am one of the people who put off registering and didn't get in. As usual always chasing a wheel of some sort.:)

I did this last year after I
I did this last year after I was unsuccessful in convincing Ellen NOT to register for this ride. She registered for the 50 and I went along to keep her safe. I never took a sinlge bite of food or a drop of liquids at any of their rest stops.
I might be up for doing it again if I'm not going Mt biking at the Wisp with Dan. We could stop by my house for a rest stop.

Very Do-able
As part of my "southern loop", I ride the "northern loop" of the Back roads century, with a little added on to go by my house. It might be hard to do the whole century but at least doing that loop should be straightforward. Not only does it go very near Josh's house as it passes by the intersection of Huyette & Augustine, it also goes past some convenience stores in Berryville.
If you all just happen to do it the day the rest of us registered riders are doing the century, I don't see a problem!
No way! I'm going to turn in
No way! I'm going to turn in all you squatters...Just kidding, I had that same idea myself, but registered instead. This is my only pay ride this year and it is kind of goofy to pay for the roads I ride all the time. It's been one of those years for me. I'm all for riding with more people from the club either on that day or setting up another ride in a couple of weeks after. Just don't ask me for a tomato sandwich after White Post... :)

Still any interest in this?
Still any interest in this? The Adopt-A-"Highway" Trail Clean up is Nov.7th, so that probably won't work. How about the 6th, 13th, 14th, 201th, 21st, 27th or 28th?
