Looks like a great day on Friday for a ride. Title says Black Friday but it actually looks like a very bright(Sunny Friday). For those of you more inclined to ride rather than shop, come on out and join us for a ride somewhere between 30M & 50M. Seems like a wide range but not sure how riders are going to feel. There should be options for bailouts if necessary. Ride will start at Scott Bean's house at 10. Should be starting to warm up by then. Pace should be a moderate 15-17mph average. Calling all roadies. Planning a ride from Johnny Dyer's tomorrow afternoon starting at 1. Should be in the 35-40M range give or take a bit. I hate to be too precise. The good news is (depending on your perspective)that there won't be a whole lot of climbing. Mind you, I didn't say there wouldn't be any climbing. My guess is about 2000ft of elevation. Just a heads-up that I won't be leading the hilly ride tonight. Had a nasty spill on yesterday's Covered Bridge ride and as Phil would say, my body is in a bit of bother. There will be no Sharpsburg hilly ride this evening due to the PPCC monthly meeting. As a general rule, I will not be leading the hilly ride on the first Monday of each month due to my attendance at the club meeting. If something changes, I will post accordingly. Thanks, Charlie

Check out the link provided to take a look at another potential October ride. I know that the Sea Gull ride has presented some lodging challenges and I'm just putting this out there as a possible alternative to the SGC this year. Looks like a great ride with lots of route options available. There appears to be plenty of lodging options still available. You can camp ($10/tent), sleep in the gym ($5/night) or stay at one of the local hotels/motels offering event pricing. Take a look and let me know what you think. Charlie

I'll be leading the Monday hilly ride tomorrow evening. We will be leaving the canal road parking lot at 6 to find a few hills on our travels. Due to the challenging climbs, this ride is not recommended for beginner riders. Looks like it could be a warm one so bring plenty of fluids. Come on out and enjoy some climbing. Charlie

I won't be leading the hilly ride this evening due to the monthly club meeting tonight. I'm sure there are some riders familiar enough with the roads across the river that could lead up the charge if so inclined. It will be a hot one. Be careful out there. Charlie

Visiting Karin's parents up in Glastonbury, CT and did a nice 65M loop yesterday. There are some beautiful scenic areas up here that make for a very enjoyable ride as long as you don't mind all of the climbing that goes along with it. One thing of note in comparison to riding closer to home. Where there are usually places to refuel along a longer route, there was virtually no place to stop and refuel along this loop until I got bact into Glastonbury. At one point my RWGPS file routed me to a dead end and I had to renavigate to find my way back.

Going to ride this evening from the Canal Rd parking lot over on the MD side. Not sure of the exact route but there will certainly be some hills in the mix. If you are not comfortable with some substatial climbing, I would not suggest this ride. Trying to get started at 5:30. Hope some folks will join in the fun. Charlie
