For the first time in the United States there will be a Penny Farthing Race August 18th in Frederick, Maryland. It will run the same weekend as the Tour-de-Frederick.
These High-Wheelers are fun to watch. Not the same riding them as our current bikes.
If your not doing anything and want to watch the fun, mark it down and go.

Anyone need an extra set of Garmin Edge 500 mounts? These may fit other Garmins as well, check the Garmin website.

I ordered two packs thinking there was only one mount in each, but there were two in each package.

So let me know if you need some extra mounts for all you nuts that have extra bikes. (I needed 4 myself...)

We are going to have a club meeting at my house on Monday night, January 9th, at 7:00.  This will be a club meeting to discuss club information topics concerns, etc.  I invite and encourage any & all members to come and let us know what you think about the club, where we've come, were we're going, and ideas for getting there.

OK, so I'm stealing the idea for this thread from bicycling.com.  Now that the year is wrapped up, what is everyone's mileage totals for 2011?

4,808 for me - this includes two trainer rides.  If you take those out it would be 4771 real outdoor miles.

Folks--New Years Day Ride--the weather report has gotten much better--temps in the 50s, mostly sunny. Let's meet at the Antietam Visitor at 11:30, and start the ride at 11:40. The whole ride is about 18 miles, with an earlier bail- out.

Anybody else off this week between the holidays want to put some miles in?

The dates for the Barn have been set! The dates will be May 10th thru the 13th. We are staying an extra day! It will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday night this year.
I really hope some of the regulars will go and some may try for the first time. Just post up or let me know if you are interested and I will get you all the information and details.

Picked this over the weekend at a thrift store. It is a Madsen KG271 cargo/utility bike. This thing has pretty nice components. SRAM X-5 8 speed, disc brakes, and a Brooks B67 saddle. The cargo tub has seats with seatbelts to haul the kids around. I had to pick it up just because I did'nt already have one.

I plan on doing an easy (15-16 mph) 20-30 mile ride on Sunday at 1:00 PM.  I am leaving from the Breckenridge Subdivision.  Anyone is free to join.  No drops.

Ever since that Halloween snowstorm, there have been several trees down across the Stone Fort Loop Trail....
During the first week of November, I spent several days up there and cleared whatever I could with a handsaw..
There were several larger trees that were just too big for a handsaw and required one to "step over" them while hiking the Stone Fort Loop Trail... Not very difficult during daylight, but a pain during a night hike!!!

I am going to be working from home Monday & Tuesday and am probably going to sneak out for a ride or two. I think the warmest time to ride would be between 1 & 3, but on Monday I have an appointment at 2:15. So on Monday I plan to try and ride at 11am, on Tuesday I plan to ride at 1.

I'll probably do 25-32ish miles, leaving from Washington High School unless anyone has other suggestions.

Post up, call, email, or text me if you're interested in either day or both.

I'm thinking about doing another path night ride this evening, around 7 PM. As with last time I'd start at the Currie Rd. parking lot. Pace I'm shooting for is about 17 mph - similar to my last two outings. Post up if you are interested.
